After accepting the call into ministry in 1978 and graduating from Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1979, Rickey G. Sharkey founded Spokane Christian Center & Academy. Located in Spokane, Washington, the church, school and daycare have proven to be a beacon to the Northwest, drawing people of all backgrounds into growing relationships with Christ.
Pastor Sharkey’s driving purpose is to reach the lost and encourage the believer to fulfill their destiny in Christ. He leads by example as he strives for excellence and integrity in every aspect of his life. The firm foundation of the Word of God serves to guide his path. His no-nonsense approach to teaching from the Word is exhilarating and motivating. Pastor Rick has a committed heart for people.
Pastor Rick daily reaches out to Pastors throughout the nations. God has gifted him with the ability to train & mentor church leaders and laborers to go forth and gather in the harvest of human souls. He is actively sought after as a counselor, mentor and friend. He has a heart to build not only Spokane Christian Center, but other thriving ministries.
Linda, affectionately referred to as "Miss Linda," is a licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Together, she and her husband, Rick, pastor Spokane Christian Center. They have three children and six grandchildren. Linda keeps busy in her many functions within the church.
She has developed a Saturday Sunday School program which is a bus ministry outreach to children in Spokane. Saturday Sunday School was started in April of 1991 and has grown from one bus and seven children to 11 buses.
She has written and published four children’s curriculum books and various teaching aides, as well as articles for Charisma Life Publishers. Miss Linda has traveled extensively as a conference speaker in the United States, Canada, and the Philippines. Her ministry style is a mixture of compassion, wisdom, and humor, and includes something for everyone. Her greatest desire is to reach all people for Christ.
As a child, Erica Johnson was drawn to minister to other children. Early on, she began teaching at Spokane Christian Center’s daycare. Following the call of God, she attended Rhema Bible Training Center. During her time in Tulsa, she worked with Rhema Bible Church’s children’s programs. After she graduated in 1999 God directed her to return to Spokane Christian Center to build & grow the children’s ministry as the Children’s Pastor.
Erica has a passion to excite and entice even the littlest ones to embrace a life with Christ. She is a skilled storyteller, uses creative teaching techniques and writes much of the children’s curriculum used in “iKids”. She leads a strong team that captures children’s hearts from birth through elementary. She loves serving God with her husband, Steve and two children: Ryen and Audrey.
